Autoptimize is powerful, but the aggressive options quickly break something: "Aggregate CSS files" and "Aggregate JS files" merge everything and often wreck sliders, menus or forms, especially on modern themes with HTTP/2 where aggregation is no longer needed. "Inline and defer CSS" needs cleanly generated critical CSS, otherwise you get white flashes (FOUC) and layout shifts (CLS). Moving JS to the footer also breaks scripts that must run in the head, and without exceptions jQuery-dependent plugins clash.

We proceed methodically: first JS optimization with "do not aggregate but defer" instead of risky aggregation, then CSS minify with targeted exceptions. For a better LCP we generate critical CSS and inline it cleanly, and enable LazyLoad with correct image dimensions against CLS.
