WP Super Cache is deliberately lean but has pitfalls: the difference between "simple" and "expert" mode with mod_rewrite is crucial but often chosen wrong, so the cache doesn't kick in at all. A cache timeout that's too long serves stale content, missing exclusions for logged-in users or WooCommerce show wrong data, and without preload enabled pages are only generated slowly on first visit. Unlike WP Rocket, WP Super Cache brings no CSS/JS optimization of its own, so minify and LazyLoad are often missing for Core Web Vitals.
